A life filled to the brim. That's the one I am leading. This fall is turning out to be one of the busiest I can remember. Part of me wish it would be done with, part of me is savoring every moment. I am preparing for two shows (here and here) being shamefully late for both. Simultaneously my youngest son is flapping his wings getting ready to fledge the nest. We are maneuvering through college applications, music auditions, and test takings. What I truly want is to hold on to him, and the precious time we have left before our relationship becomes different. So I am cherishing his soccer games, off-handed jokes, bassoon practices, and back-to-school nights... In between I am dyeing, sewing, making—projecting what's really me onto cloth and paper with plenty of hand stitching to force me to slow down, think, and consider. We never know what the future will hold, so its best to hold on to what's here and now.
